About me

My name is Ian. I come from Tainan, an archaic place known for delicious foods and historical sites. I love the slow pace and warm hearts of residents here, and I also show these properties in my everyday life. For one thing, I like to explore streets and alleys, discover anything unexpected, savor different kinds of food, and take pictures to record my journeys. For another, I’m willing to help others and reluctant to see misfortune befall somebody. Therefore, if you are looking for a considerate tour guide, I think you are lucky to know me.
For now, I study in Chung Cheng University as a junior. I major in business administration and minor in foreign language. Marketing and human resource management are in my domain. I have experiences of analyzing how Costco, PX Mart, and TEST RITE RETAIL market their products or service. Also, I’ve practiced doing job analyses with my teammates, and solved job design problems by using what I learned from HR classes.
I touch foreign languages because traveling around the world (especially Japan) is my goal. I have been learning English and Japanese by myself for a long time. What I believe is that if a person uses the local language, he can talk to the heart of the native one. So, I will keep learning foreign languages, win the hearts of the native, and get to know the secrets only shared among the local people.
Besides studying, I also go to the karate club after school. Karate is Japanese martial art. I choose karate because it trains my body and endurance, and helps me step closer to my favorite country. Every Tuesday there is a coach teaching us some new skills, and every Thursday I train with my club members and we learn from each other. Now I’m at brown-belt level, and keep practicing for better.
Another place I’ve been to is TEDxChungChengU, a student organization in CCU. When I was a freshman, I applied for the position in TEDxChungChengU as an HR member and got recruited. The HR department’s works include planning each year’s recruitment and selection, creating a positive working environment, holding a ceremony for sending off the old year, etc. I really enjoyed the brainstorming time and collaboration with my team members. We strived for making this organization better and overcame many difficulties at that time. Every year in the fall semester, TEDxChungChengU holds a significant annual conference in CCU. I’ve participated in it two times, being one of the hosts in one year and a guest in the other year. From there I learned ideas worth spreading in diverse topics, such as art, business, and fashion. If you are interested in helping share such an event and experience the power of teamwork, TEDxChungChengU is the best place to go.
After becoming a sophomore, I went to Tong Rong Primary school in Minxiong, Chiayi, and worked as a teacher assistant. There I found myself quite enthusiastic about being a teacher. The reason, I guess, is that what a teacher should do perfectly matches my personality and willingness. In fact, students attending the after-school tutoring class are almost from humble families or lack one of their parents. I can imagine how they feel deeply, and want to try my best to create happy memories for at least two hours every week. All in all, what I learn is that a teacher can never be just a person who teaches. A teacher shows compassion, makes students stronger to face the future, and gives them hopes. I wish I am qualified to handle this position someday.
